I was also caught in the New York snowstorms that were happening in early January, where the temperatures fell to minus twenty-three degrees centigrade! Basically it’s a level of cold that makes your legs feel like they have been dunked in boiling hot water. I didn’t let that deter me from travelling though, with a cup of hot coffee, some thermal snow-gear, and great company; I was out and about with the rest of the New Yorkers.
One of the most astounding things for me was the portion size when ordering food. Whilst it’s good to splurge once in a while, I was uncomfortable with the amount of food I had to leave on my plate due to the sheer size of even a small plate! Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the local cuisine.
I really enjoyed my visit to the USA where the people were all so kind and welcoming – it was also fun getting extra attention due to my Aussie accent.
Now that I’m back in the Sydney heat, I feel refreshed and ready for what 2014 has to offer!
