Hi fellow blog followers,
It’s Sue reminiscing on how I started working for Seymour Dental, now 15 years later. I have always wanted to be a dental nurse from the time I was a young girl who use to go to the dental hospital as a child. I often admired the nurses assisting the dentist and thought to myself, I would love to do that when I was all grown up. I frequented the dentist quite a lot as I had to have teeth removed for braces, and fillings. I finished High School and did an advanced Secretarial diploma and worked for State Rail Authority, as it was called back than for 3 years. I later married and had 3 sons, who are now in their 20’s.
Fifteen years ago I was casually browsing through the local paper and saw a position advertised for a “Dental Assistant”. I hadn’t worked for about 12 years as I was bringing up my 3 sons. By now they were more independent and I rang up for the position. I was very blessed as Dr Seymour picked up the phone and there and then interviewed me over the phone, while he was at the park with his son. I was very privileged to be given the chance to be trained on the job, by Dr Seymour and my fellow dental assistants who were working then.
I remember being so nervous but at the same time very determined to do the very best I could. Dr Seymour was very patient with me and over the course of 6months I started being more confident and now 15 years later, I am still learning and enjoying the challenges that come my way. Dr Seymour is still always very willing to explain anything that any of the staff are not sure of.
“The only constant is change”.
