Recently the webmaster let it be known that the site has posted over 200 weekly Dental Blogs. We’re a bit chuffed about that. All the staff have contributed to the blogs. This could in the form of writing the material, ideas and photos (even the occasional anatomical selfie). Let’s not forget our famous blog models – forget about Milan, Paris, New York, London…….. its Google!
We have to thank our web developers at VOLT Creative for making us look good. It’s been fun, educational and another way of engaging with people. When I told a patient when the website was born, she asked how long was the pregnancy? About six months!
The topics we have covered range from medical issues that have a bearing on dental health and visa versa. Seymour Dental is about informing people that the mouth is a part of the whole body. It is not a separate entity. This fits in with our mission statement:
At Seymour Dental, we are dedicated to providing personal care to assist you in achieving excellent health outcomes for life!
The practice uses the blogs as educational material to help improve treatment outcomes. This could include changing lifestyle choices that influence outcomes or prevent problems in the first place. The key areas are diet, maintenance and smoking and other life style issues.
The more people understand, the better the outcome. We see it all the time. It is very satisfying to see the change for the better. For people it’s not always easy. Many patients have said, “I’m your worst patient”… I say “The worst patient is the one who is not here!”.
The blogs also have explained the process of arriving at treatment options. This gets into the mind of the dentist’s thought processes. (Sounds a bit scary!). This leads to a treatment plan and an orderly treatment path. We all want to avoid crisis treatment. PAIN IS TOO LATE! It has a higher biological and financial cost. As time moves on your options diminishes. Who wants to suffer!
The staff have been the backbone (or jawbone) of the practice. We now have four dentists working, four dental nurses, and four dental students as casual and relief dental nurses. Not all of us are working at the same time, but we all have to work together!
The blogs have covered a lot of topics ranging from the very dental to fun and amusing and educational.
I would like to thank all the people who have donated over the years to Wairoa special school. This was supporting the fun runs that Dr Seymour together with the training and running mates of Roni and other friends and family to raise money for these children to get a better start in life. (It also gets us out of the clinic and makes sure the ticker still works!)
