Training for Team Wairoa and Dr Kim Nguyen to run with us!

On a glorious spring day on last Friday, Dr Seymour and Roni met for practice for the Bridge Run by doing the 7km Bay run starting at Five Dock. The problem with a glorious day is that it’s going to be sunny and hot. We started out before 10am.

Poor Roni did some training the night before and she did quite a few kilometres; so backing up the next day was going to be a difficult on the legs.

The amazing person she is, we completed the Bay Run, albeit not at a blistering pace but a great warm up. We even managed a non-selfie photo at the half way mark (i.e. someone else took our photo!… Yes it does happening from time to time). I am very honoured to have someone who has devoted her time to this cause. She now knows the name of every muscle in her legs and back. It was very hard for both of us to go work the next morning. We looked like we were doing poor robot impersonations.

Roni is great in getting support. Dr Kim Nguyen now joins Team Wairoa to run the 9km Sydney Bridge Run, this Sunday 20th Sept at 9am. Again I am honoured to have her on board. She has only joined us recently and has fit right in with the rest of the staff. I have to now step up to the plate and do these wonderful women proud and keep up my training (and not get injured). I’ll have to, as there’s not much time left.

This is also a run for the children and young adults at Wairoa and all the people and their families they have helped over the many years. Thank you to all the people who have already donated, both at the surgery and online.
