Merry Christmas from Seymour Dental 2021 – Year of Again Living Differently

December 27, 2021

We finally had freedom day on the 15th December!!!! Well sort of. Omicron, (another letter of the Greek Alphabet – ō micron – “small o”), Covid variant has entered from Africa. They should rename it OMG variant. We are now in a world of uncertainty again.

The freedom we have has been subdued due to the new variant, with many people choosing to keep away. Self-imposed restrictions!

An unexpected side effect of this new variant was a less busy venue for the Xmas party due to tables being spaced out, and NO traffic. Even the trains were running – strike free! I missed the strikes but they are back. I wonder if there is a connection with upcoming elections…

Anyway, the uncertainty made this year’s numbers smaller than normal. However, this year we were able to serve ourselves, an almost lost skill. Mask at the ready if areas were too crowded but no Perspex glass to separate us from the food. All staff wore masks, so we felt safe.

We were glad to relax after a busy couple of months of patients catching up with checks up and delayed problems needing treatment, due to Covid restrictions. Dentistry’s freedom day was 11th October. Hooray!

Christmas Dinner 2021 almost back to normal

I want to thank my wonderful staff – without their support I would not be able to keep up with the pace of change in the Covid setting and the standards that our patients expect. More importantly, they bring a warm and caring and fun side to an otherwise “challenging” situation.

These lovely nurses have been with Seymour Dental for many years and I am truly blessed. Thank you SueReneeRoniMaggy, for all that you have done over the many years. Also thanks to Yvette our casual, back up nurse when we needed her help.

Also thank you to our valuable casual dental student Gillian. Special thanks go to Gillian who joined Team Miroma.  Thank you for all who donated to Team Miroma this year! The 10km Harbour Bridge Run event was again held virtually.  Donations can still be made at https://inala.org.au/get-involved/make-a-donation/.

I hope the raised awareness will help so many people and to make their future a lot brighter, which we also hope for my son, James.

I would like to also thank the dentists who have been very professional and also very understanding. I am very fortunate to have Dr Mary Hatem continue to provide excellent treatment, on a casual basis. Also thank you Dr Josephine Succar, who joined us this year, for your professionalism.

Thank you to the dental labs that provide quality work and have gone far beyond giving great service for our patients, Flex Dental (Sam), Inner West and White Dental. The place would not keep running without the maintenance carried out with great service by Tristan Dental, HTC and Sydney Air.

Many thanks go to Nina for cleaning the practice after hours.

Computers are integral to the function of the practice and Mark, my brother, has been there to help. Teamwork Solutions have also helped out when needed.

Aisha, our media expert, has been amazing with Facebook, Social and Digital Media part of the practice.

Volt Creative needs to be thanked for the maintaining the website and for making these blogs look so good!

I would not be able to achieve anything without ever supportive wife Eva, who has always done so much for the family. James is the wonderful young man he is because of her efforts.

Thank you to all the people who come to Seymour Dental. We are privileged to meet you and be a part of your lives.

Please have a very Merry and safe Christmas, as we celebrate Jesus’ birth.

See you in 2022 to the new normal!
