Now that soccer season is over, together with some visits to the physio (with acupuncture), training at dawn is full steam ahead! Finding time in day to train has left me with no choice but to rise with the sun. Psycologically and physiologically, the mornings are best.
It’s a serene part of the day; still and quiet.
The mornings have been absolutely spectacular, with brilliant sunrises, and gentle surf. The effort in training at this time is to acclimatise to the conditions of the 10km run.
The 10km Bridge run will begin at North Sydney Oval for the first time. The reason is the number of people now running is now 10,000 more than previous years. In previous years, the starting point was at the park next to Luna Park. Now it won’t cope. With the increase in humans, so further north we go!
So begins the full training working our way to 10kms. Finally a week before the main event, we finally did it in front of surfers catching waves. Pity, none of them waved at us, acknowedging the achievement. Hey waves wait for no-one!
I was a bit silly. I did the 10km on a breafast of one banana, one magnesium tablet, some thermos coffee and of course water.
Funnily enough, the main hazards was avoiding being run over by all the running club members, or little people on even littler tricylces!
After today, I feel confident to cover the distance. So far, no cramps and injuries. I will have one more physio session.
