Dentist at Large – Pokémon World Championship

Check out the forms of Pokémon game types:

• Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG)
  This is my son’s tournament. Every player is called a trainer. There is a Junior, Senior section (i.e. of school ages) and then everyone else are Masters.

This card example shows your Pokémon’s type and how much damage they can take before being Knocked Out. Each Pokémon has its own Weaknesses and Resistances shown on the bottom of the card. Keep this in mind when preparing for your next battle. In the competition you register your set of 52 cards before playing. So, the moves and cards to bring have to carefully thought out as no players decks are the same! Endless combinations!

  Pokémon Video Game Championships (VGC).

  Pokémon Go is an augmented reality mobile game.
• Pokémon UNITE Player Info
  Pokémon Unite is a multiplayer online battle arena game, with standard matches consisting of two teams, each with 5 players. Each match is limited to 10 minutes in duration, and the team with the highest total score by the end of each match wins.

Side Events

The Pokémon World Championships also hosted a full schedule of side events open to all attendees who have an official event badge, regardless of whether the attendee is playing in the main event. People could battle in smaller competitions for a variety of awesome prizes throughout the weekend. It’s also a great opportunity to meet and compete against players from around the world!

It’s massive. 68 countries involved, amazing. It cuts across all cultures, and age groups. It’s only going to get bigger as the world gets smaller with the internet going to everywhere on our home planet.

After 12 months of competing around Australia, Robbie got enough points to be invited to compete for Oceania. So, after the 6am amazing dawn trek, we registered for tomorrow’s competition. Then a surprise at Waikiki beach for dinner, a spectacular Pokémon drone show with music. What a way to end the day!
