It’s on for young and old for the trainers, the spectators and for Hawaii. Let’s battle especially the 2500 Pokémon card game players.
The competitors need to play best of three games per match up to accumulate enough points to advance to Day 2.
Day 1 ends at 8pm that evening. It’s a long day, depending on how you go.
Day 2 begins with the remaining Swiss Rounds. The second half of Day 2 is the elimination rounds of the top 32 competitors. As the trainer progresses, the prize money increases.
Every competitor gets a unique back pack full of special edition prizes worth about $2,000 and free entry of two spectators.
Day 3 are the grand finals of all the five forms of Pokémon games formats. The finals are live streamed around the planet!
Let’s not forgot the collector’s heaven – The Pokémon shop for the World Championship and its queue. An example of the craziness. There is a limited edition of a unique Pokémon world championship ukulele, selling for US$60. People were trying to resell their purchase immediately outside the venue for US$500!
The whole of the capital of Hawaii, had never seen anything like this Pokémon World Championship. To be honest many locals didn’t know what a Pokémon was, nor its world-wide reach. They now know! I also was surprised by the amazing fans and competitive zeal of the Pokémon game.
