It’s funny how history repeats itself. This is what I wrote 12 months ago…
“It’s not the normal way on training for a 10km run, but I am currently playing in the middle of a soccer season, with many delays due the recent run of rainy weather. Long run training and soccer training don’t always mix well, with regards to injuries and time.
So, I have been jumping into the ocean to help with my muscles, my sanity, and being one with nature. It has been wonderful for my general health and blood chemistry.”
That’s what’s happened this year. We have had wash out training sessions and games. I even did a night swim as I missed the therapeutic swim. Strangely the water temperature was 19 degrees, the air above it 13 degrees, but slightly inland with the wind, 6 degrees.
Well, it had been so wet and windy and wild weather that I snuck in a beautiful morning swim before the “big wet” of constant rain, thunderstorms, wild winds and powerful surf for probably two weeks or more.
Well, it poured and it poured and, yes, it poured. Al soccer training and games were called. Even synthetic grass field fixtures were cancelled, save for one. My nephew’s game was still on, despite the windy and driving rain.
Of course, the Seymour Clan watched on in the relatively dry grand stand. Hopefully drier spells of weather will come before us. This year my brother is also playing football (soccer) with me, after a break from playing.
My brother has run with me, in the past, on the 10km bridge runs. He will now help me in the 10km Run with training runs.
