Dentures can become ill fitting due to a number of reasons:
Poligrip is a denture adhesive to prevent movement of the denture on the gum, especially for minor changes of its fit to underlying bone and/gums
It can also be used for new dentures to avoid ulcers during the settling in period.
However denture adhesives will not help a very ill-fitting denture.
You may need a reline or repair, or a new denture to fit the changed mouth.
Here are two concerns you should keep in mind when choosing a denture adhesive:
Don’t use too much product. As mentioned, zinc troubles arise with overexposure so make sure to carefully follow the instructions on the package. Also too much product will make the adhesive ooze out from under the denture, making the denture adhesive less effective.
Also, clean the previous day’s adhesive before applying more adhesive.
Adhesive residue can lead to build up and discomfort over time, so ensure that you properly soak your dentures in the right cleaning agents every night for acrylic and Valplast types.
Also, clean your gums and oral tissue, where residues can also hide.
Be consistent.
While you may feel that your dentures fit well enough to not use the adhesive, Poylgrip can make a huge difference in improving the level of comfort and keeping food particles from getting underneath the denture.
