Happy New Year – Highlights of 2023 – Part 5 – November-December

February 12, 2024

November

Halloween 2023 brought in the second last month of 2023, in truly gothic style.

Halloween is even a fashion accessory adorning even fingernails

Halloween this year has arrived in the midst of rising interest rates, war, enormous cost of living pressure, colds & flus and the lingering effects of Covid.

Yet despite all this, spending on Halloween has been at the highest ever. Many houses lawns have been ghoulishly dressed up to the max. Costume shops are dressing up many with “interesting” attire.

Then an Update from Team Miroma 2023. Team Miroma are very honoured to again to run 10kms across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, through streets around Darling Harbour, The Rocks and down to the Sydney Opera House.

Now for something completely dentally different- “Pro Guard” new Oral Appliances Cleaner is a new product from Provident. Wearing a removable dental appliance can lead to the build-up of odour-causing bacteria. The new product has been developed with “Crystal Clear Technology”. This cleaning formulation is designed to lift stains, remove discolouration and it kills odour-causing bacteria.

November ended with Intra-Oral Cameras – What CanYou See? Bites and Grinds – Part 1. The intra-oral camera has been an incredible diagnostic tooth with its own light source. It has the ability to “see around corners” to area that are often missed by the naked eye, or even with magnification.

An assessment of the bite may show that it is uneven, causing the body attempt to even it by grinding teeth. This makes a flat shiny surface called a bruxofacet.

December

After The Rain 2023 kicks off the last month of 2023 with a Miroma/Inala had its annual Art expose of its wonderful adults with artistic abilities. The 2023 Inala Art Exhibition After the Rain is at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf (548 New South Head Rd, Double Bay).

The arts program at Inala has a long-standing history of producing high quality art and craft, and has held exhibitions in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and North West District for the past two decades.”

The continuation of the series – Intra-Oral Cameras – What Can You See? Bites and Grinds – Severe – Part 2 discussing that the visual technology, with its time stamping and storage of images is now an essential part of patient’s notes. Magnified images help with diagnosis and decision making in treatment options. Images are not only used to educate the patient, but the dentist as well. The case in point is the surge, with the Covid changed world, of severe teeth wear, muscles problems and jaw joint issues.

Seymour Dental Christmas Celebrations 2023 – Whoo Hoo! marks the year of sickness everywhere. Patients have been cancelling left, right and centre due to the various microbes and viruses ding the rounds. Even staff where we had four off in one day! Even my son had to come in to the rescue!

This year not everyone could make our Christmas festivities due to illness. However, many of us could, so we all enjoyed ourselves like it 2023… whatever that means!
