We all crossed the line in 2016 with no injuries and big smiles on our faces! It was an overcast day, but excellent running weather. The lovely ladies of Team Miroma, Roni, Kim, Joy and the man all arrived safe and sound after crossing the Harbour Bridge and not falling over any of the other thousands of runners. Many people were running for many causes and it made you feel part of the good humanity can do for one another. We saw a blind person, being led by a sighted volunteer, do the 9km run. Inspiring!
Joy had never run 9km before and with the man, ran all the way with a steady pace. Well done, you should be proud of yourself! Kim and Roni ran like the wind, with only one toilet stop amongst them. I am not telling who needed it. Great running! These ladies took time out from their work, family and study commitments to train and do the run. I am blown away by this. James if he could talk (and one day we hope he will!) says “thanks heaps – you are legends”.
I am also blown away by the increased awareness of adults with disabilities and the amount of donations we have received. It’s been humbling and an emotional ride for the last couple of weeks. We did very well, considering that we were all sick July and part of August. It’s a credit to everyone that it all came together.
As usual the post run breakfast/lunch/multiple coffees helped us recover together with the post run entertainment!
Once again, we braved the 8am start at Milson’s Point near Luna Park to run over the Bridge to finish at the Opera House. What a beautiful day! I would like to thank the generosity of patients, friends, colleagues, business and people online who donated to Miroma.
Also thanks to all of you who have read the blogs in the hope of raising awareness of adults with disabilities that they want to contribute to society. They love life! I always admire how they do this. It pushes me along in my life knowing this.
